Adam Mechura, Tomáš Suchánek Named to the 2022 World Junior Championship team of the Czech Republic

KENNEWICK, WA – American forward Adam Mechura and goalkeeper Tomáš Suchánek have been named to the Czech Republic’s roster for the upcoming 2022 World Junior Championships, which will take place August 9-20 in Edmonton, Alta.

Mechura, a center born in 2003, was recently selected fourth overall by the Americans in the 2022 CHL Import Draft. The 4-foot, 200-kilogram native of Písek, Czech Republic played last season in the Czech under-20 league for the Liberec White Tigers. In 42 games played, he led his team with 54 goals and added 30 assists. In 15 playoff games, he added ten goals and four assists. Mechura will join the Americans in the 2022-23 season.

Suchanek, a netminder born in 2003, was selected by Tri-City ninth overall in the 2020 CHL Import Draft. The six-foot, 172-pound native of Přerov, Czech Republic played in 42 games with a 3.87 goals-against average and a .901 percentage in his first season with the Americans of success. Suchánek was named the team’s Most Valuable Player for his strong performance in his rookie season.

The Czech Republic will open the tournament on Tuesday, August 9, when they face Slovakia at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time.
