LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Los Angeles Dodgers have listed Clayton Kershaw on a pelvic joint injury.
The Dodgers advanced a few hours before Kershaw (4: 0, 1.80 ERA) faced the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. Walker Buehler will replace him.
Los Angeles recalled left-handed Garrett Cleavinger to take Kershaw’s place in the roster.
The 34-year-old Kershaw has had an excellent start to his 15th season in the Dodgers jersey. The three-time NL winner Cy Young has 32 strokes and only three losses in five starts since he signed an annual $ 17 million contract in March to return to his only professional club.
On April 30, Kershaw also became the leader of the Dodgers franchise in strikes.
Kershaw has spent time on the injured list in each of the last seven seasons. He suffered from left-handed pain throughout the second half of last season and missed the Dodgers playoffs.
Buehler (4-1, 1.96 ERA) starts on a regular rest because the Dodgers have been free since his last start. It also has an excellent start to the season with 32 hits and 1.06 WHIP.
Cleavinger returns for his third Dodgers role after allowing one well-deserved race over 1 2/3 innings in his previous three Los Angeles appearances this season. The Dodgers acquired him from Philadelphia by exchanging three teams in December 2020.
