This instruction comes from the head of state Felix Chisekedi during the 56th meeting of the Council of Ministers.
For Felix Chisekedi, this participation will allow the government to better coordinate and monitor investments in the environmental sector for the benefit of the population.
“In order to ensure better territorial governance, which is the key to preserving natural climate solutions, but also to provide the country with preventive means to manage climate risks, the Minister of State, the Minister of Regional Planning and the Minister for Research and Technology Innovation are invited to complete our Earth Observatory. will allow the government to better coordinate and monitor investment in climate and the environment for the Congolese people, “said the 56th Ministerial Council on Friday, 3 June 2022.
The Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (or the GEO Earth Observation Group) is an intergovernmental group established to coordinate international efforts to establish a global network of participants in the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS).
It aims to create a global public earth observation infrastructure consisting of a flexible, interoperable and distributed network of earth observation systems and content providers. To this end, the development of new systems where there are gaps in the provision of environmental information is also supported.
