Final Fantasy XIV – Naoki Yoshida excels in metaverse and entertainment

Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida doesn’t think the metaverse can be considered “entertainment.”

During an interview with a Japanese site Weekly BunshunYoshida has moved his work with the MMORPG away from the metaverse.

“I think the metaverse is ‘a system that changes reality into a virtual world.’ So I don’t think metaversa has anything to do with entertainment, “he said.

“In the metaverse I am thinking of, people will be able to use an avatar in virtual reality and then walk around Shinjuku or go shopping, just like in real life. While it can be fun, there is no entertainment in it. “How interesting are our real systems?” »

When asked if he was considering working on a meta-value project, he replied that he would “do something fun in the virtual world rather than in the meta-totality itself”, but he has no plans yet.

While there is no strict definition of a metauniverse, Yoshida’s comments can be intriguing, as many believe that Final Fantasy XIV is a kind of meta-universe because players can roam the virtual world using avatars.

This also echoes Square Enix’s own comments. Recently, the publisher actually sold Western Studies and IP to invest more in blockhain technology, AI and cloud.
