During the Google I / O event, the Internet giant announced new advances in artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the use of Maps.
Thanks to the development of computer vision and artificial intelligence, billions of Street View images and aerial imagery have been combined to create a richer and more comprehensive digital model to provide billions of users with a new way to explore.
With Maps, you can explore a whole new, comprehensive view of the world, find your most efficient route, and stream live to your favorite third-party apps.
Before you can even hold your foot there
Thanks to this new surrounding view, Google suggests “discovering an area, landmark, restaurant or popular place and even giving the impression of being there before you set foot there. Whether you’re traveling somewhere new or looking for hidden local gems, the spectacular view will help you make the most informed decisions before you leave.
For example, Google writes: “Imagine you’re planning a trip to London and want to know the best places to eat and eat. With quick search, you can practically hover over Westminster to see the surrounding area and stunning architecture up close, such as Big Ben’s Clock. With useful information from Google Maps, you can use the time slider to see what your neighborhood looks like at different times of the day and in different weather conditions, and where the busiest places are. Looking for a place to dine? Swipe down to street level to explore nearby restaurants and see useful information such as live crowds and nearby traffic. You can even look inside before booking to get an idea of the atmosphere of the place.
Immersive View will work on almost any phone and device. It will be launched later this year in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo, with more cities coming soon.
