The Iranian authorities, against whom US sanctions have been subject for many years, offered Moscow to learn from their experience and establish cooperation to combat US restrictions. Mohsen Karimi, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iran for International Relations, spoke about this.

“Iran, based on its rich experience of sanctions in recent years, has taken the necessary steps to avoid American domination and the influence of hostile states. What it offered to the Russian side,” Mohsen Karimi told RIA Novosti.

He also pointed out that countries could trade in national currencies with each other. “There are agreements and opportunities,” Karimi said.

The United States, the European Union and several other countries have imposed sanctions on Russia in connection with a special operation in Ukraine. Such pressure on Moscow has been going on since the early 2000s and has intensified in recent months. Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the aim of such measures was “the abolition of Russia, the banning of its culture, the taboo of the truth about Russia’s history and its role in major world events.”
