Jude Law will star in the upcoming Star Wars series Disney +.

Disney announced a new TV series, Star Wars, with actor Jude Law at a convention in California on Thursday that did not discuss new feature films, and the entertainment giant focused on the broadcast.

Harrison Ford and Ewan McGregor appeared on stage in front of a crowd of enthusiasts in Anaheim, near Los Angeles, during the Star Wars Convention, a regular convention dedicated to the release of a new film.

But the TV series dominated Thursday night’s introductory presentation, in which fans were treated to clips from the upcoming Andor and the third season of The Mandalorian.

In particular, Disney has confirmed the creation of the series Skeleton Crew, starring British star Jude Law and directed by John Watts, the latest director of Spider-Man.

“It’s the story of a group of children about ten years old from a very small planet, and they accidentally get lost in the Star Wars galaxy,” John Watts said of the new series.

The presentation began with the participation of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, who both replicated their roles in the second film trilogy, released around the 2000s, in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

A preview of the two episodes was due to be presented to fans on Thursday, the day before they will be available to everyone on the Disney + streaming platform.

The entertainment giant’s decision to focus more on TV series was primarily driven by declining revenue from cinemas, fairly average reviews of the latest feature films, and, most importantly, a broadcast offer.

Disney + platform since its launch in 2019 received more than 130 million subscribers – far more than analysts had expected.

The creator of the series “Mandalorian” Jonas Favreau thanked the fans of “Star Wars” for his role in this achievement. “You contributed to the success of Disney + when it started,” he said.

Jason Bourne’s screenwriter Tony Gilroy has announced that the new series, Andorra, will run five years before the separate Rogue One and will consist of two twelve-episode seasons.

John Favreau also pointed out that filming for the series Ahsoka had just begun with actress Rosario Dawson.

While Disney is preparing three Star Wars films to be directed by Taika Waititi, Rian Johnson and Patty Jenkins, none were mentioned on Thursday.

Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy told Variety trade magazine that there would be “plenty of opportunities” to present future films later.

Instead, the presentation ended with a performance by the famous filmmaker John Williams, for whom the orchestra played his soundtrack from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

John Williams, 90, was greeted by Harrison Ford, who played the famous Han Solo.

“This music accompanies me everywhere I go … It even sounded through the speakers in the room where I had my last colonoscopy,” the actor said with a laugh.

Harrison Ford, 79, says the fifth Indiana Jones is coming to an end and will appear in 2023. in June.

Outside of the Anaheim Convention Center, thousands of Star Wars fans gathered with light swords, took photos of their favorite robot or jazz, and discussed the latest rumors of all those performances.

In this city south of Los Angeles, the convention is scheduled to run through Sunday.
