More than a billion people in the world, or one in eight, are obese. In just 32 years, obesity rates have doubled among adults and even quadrupled among children and adolescents, according to an international study.

Obesity has just crossed the alarming threshold. More than a billion people in the world, or one in eight, are obese. According to an international study, obesity rates among adults have doubled in just 32 years. It even quadrupled among children and teenagers. The disease mainly affects women. In 2022, 504 million of them were obese, compared to 374 million men. But it is among the latter that this trend is developing the fastest. Men are three times more obese than in 1990.

Obesity in France has decreased

This development is mainly explained by the change in consumption habits. Fresh and local products are gradually being replaced by processed food from abroad. However, France is a good student. Over the past 30 years, obesity has decreased slightly.
