Okanagan College won the second Canadian College World Series – Sports

OC captures the world series

The Okanagan College Coyotes are the world champions of Canadian College in 2022.

The team won the World Cup during an extended weekend in Lethbridge, Alta.

The tournament was a double elimination involving eight teams, with Okanagan College taking first place over the weekend after winning the title in the regular season.

Kelowna defeated Victoria’s eighth seed 10-0 and then defeated the Vancouver Island University Mariners’ fourth 7-0 in the second round.

In the third match, two undefeated teams faced each other when the University of Fraser Valley faced Okanagan College. There were three lead changes during the match, while Kelowna secured a 7: 6 victory and advanced to the finals.

Okanagan College met with Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs in the finals, where Elder Chris Wyslobocki won for eight direct shutouts on 79 throws. The team continued to score one goal in the third inning and then recorded two more races in the sixth and eighth innings – a proud moment for head coach Geoff White.

“If you want to win the base season with a balance of 25-5, go after the 4-0 season, which will eliminate a special group of players,” said White. “We have seven seniors who have worked extremely hard to achieve this goal, so sending them with a master’s degree and a degree is always exceptional.”

The Coyotes won their second national championships and finished the year with a record of 38 wins and nine losses.
