Russia cancels World Energy Congress

The World Energy Congress, scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg in October this year, has been canceled. The congress was attended by energy experts from PJSC Gazprom, Rosneft PJSC, Rosatom State Corporation.

It is scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg from October 24 to October 27, 2022 at the Expoforum exhibition center, organized by the Roscongress Foundation.

The Congress of the World Energy Council is an international congress of world energy leaders, held since 1924. It discusses the problems of energy sources, participants exchange experiences. The last meeting was in 2019 in the UAE.

Against the background of the military operation of Russian troops in Ukraine, many countries of the world imposed sanctions against Russia. Since the beginning of April, EU President Vladimir Putin has ordered EU countries to pay for Russian gas in rubles. Most EU countries have refused to meet this requirement, the UK intends to abandon Russian energy resources by the end of this year.
