Southwest Airlines is experiencing system-wide “technology problems”; passengers report the delay

(NEXSTAR) – Southwest Airlines passengers have reported delayed flights at many of the country’s airports after the carrier experienced a system-wide outage early Saturday morning.

Southwest Airlines said the problems were now resolved, but acknowledged that passengers could continue to be late all day.

“Some of our earliest departing flights were delayed this morning, and some of them were canceled after we experienced interruptions after routine overnight maintenance,” Southwest wrote in a statement shared with Nexstar. “We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and thank our employees who work diligently to reward them.

Delays are more likely to affect customers in the Eastern and Central time zones, but secondary delays are also possible when flying further west.

“We will continue to inform customers whose travel with us today may be delayed due to issues that have now been resolved,” the carrier said.
