Sanctions against Russia in general and the Urals in particular

On April 7, the governor of the Chelyabinsk region Alexei Texler arrived at the Chelyabinsk factory “Modern Glass”, where the production of twelve-meter glass is started. Such products were previously imported only from abroad, and the new line will replace up to 90% of imports of large-format glass packages in Russia, reports URA.RU correspondent.

“The Chelyabinsk region has great potential for the development of both basic industries and new, modern competencies. Modern Glass is one of them. This is an absolutely competitive product and in many ways superior to its world analogues, “said Texler after a personal acquaintance with the product.

Dmitry Dishakov, director of Modern Glass, said earlier that the new technology would be able to provide the country with twice the size of double-glazed windows than is currently produced. The company will start installing new equipment in the near future.

The company notes that with the departure of Western competitors, Russian companies have gained new opportunities. To start a new line, Modern Glass received a loan of 1.6 billion rubles. The plant plans to produce at least 3.8 thousand tons of products per year.

“Modernization of the Modern Glass production line will allow to increase the range of products by 50%. Our common challenge is to respond to unprecedented Western sanctions. The region has the potential, opportunities and technology, ”the governor noted.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special operation on Ukrainian territory. In response, the West has introduced an unprecedented package of sanctions against our country. In the fight against Russia’s economic blockade, the federal and regional authorities began to stimulate the substitution of imports into the country and the opening of new production lines.
