The 17-year-old Chinese Crested Dog beat nine other competitors on Friday, June 24, in this annual competition, which has been going on for several decades.
The champion was adopted last year during the coronavirus pandemic by 41-year-old Arizona musician Genned Benley. The latter told her that she had been told about an old dog with health problems at the kennel. “The kennel staff tried to prepare me for what I was going to see. I saw a creature that was really old, needed a second chance and deserved to be loved, ”said the proud owner.

Veterinarians had warned that the dog could only live for a few weeks due to health problems. But “Mom’s love, kindness and kisses helped” him overcome these problems, says his mistress Gennedy Benally. “His hobbies are sleeping, snoring, sleeping and making strange sounds when he’s happy,” she explained. “This world-famous event celebrates the shortcomings that make all dogs special and unique,” the organizers said.
