The Minister of Sports congratulates the world champion in boxing

Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa has congratulated champion boxer Sivenathi “Special One” Nontshinga for regaining the International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Light Flyweight title at the weekend.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Sports, Arts and Culture on Monday, Nontshinga defeated Mexico's Adrian Curiel in Mexico City to win the title and become a two-time world champion.

“Sivenathi 'Special One' Nontshinga showed true character to regain the IBF World Light Flyweight title against Adrian Curiel. Special One is an outstanding fighter and exemplary professional who exemplifies the best of South African boxing,” said Kodwa.

He added that Nontshinga represented the country well.

“When I spoke to the Special One before the fight, he was confident of getting the title back and said 'Ndizobuya nayo mkhuluwa, I'm ready'.” I would like to congratulate the Special One on regaining the world title.”

Kodwa also expressed his commitment to the boxing fraternity in South Africa.
