The three Longhorns form the team of the USA TF World Championship

EUGENE, Ore. – The three Longhorns earned their place in the US World Athletics Championships team at the historic Hayward Field on Friday.

Ex Texas, All-American and world leader Ryan Crouser was the US champion in the shot put with a world lead of 23.12 m (75-10.25). Crouser threw the world top three times, making it the largest series in history.

Recent NCAA 2022 outboard champion Tripp Piperi finished fourth and won a place at the World Championships with a throw of 21.43 m (70-3.75).

The last Longhorn to win a place in the Worlds was Texas Ex and All-American Steffin McCarter who finished with a silver medal in the jump of 8.15 m. Friday’s competition was McCarter’s opening of the season outside.

Senior Kennedy Simon continued its strong season at 400 m, running the third fastest time of day 51.11. On the way to the final, she defeated Allyson Felix.

Ex Texas Ashley Spencer also made it to the finals in the 400m hurdles with a third-fastest time of 55.19, while Aldrich Bailey, another Texas All-American, made it to the men’s semi-finals with a time of 51.21.

Two Longhorns under the age of 20 competed on the second day of the championship and recorded two fourth places. Freshman Solomon Washington the day began with a personal best jump of 7.52 m (24-8.25) in the long jump. Fellow freshman Chrystal Herpin later he threw the disc 49.81 m (163-5).
