Uzbekistan became a member of the ECOSOC – News – Forbes Kazakhstan Special Commission

At a meeting on Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York, Uzbekistan was elected a member of the UN Economic and Social Council / ECOSOC / Commission on Development Science and Technology for the period 2023-2026. inform Xinhua with reference to the Dune news agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Providing Uzbekistan with the opportunity to participate in the work of this key UN body is a testament to the international community’s broad support for ongoing efforts in the field of scientific and technological development, the report said.

According to local experts, the active involvement of Uzbekistan in the work of the commission will allow to get acquainted with the accumulated experience and best practices in developing, planning and forecasting the most important world trends in the field of science, technology and innovation.

The elected members of the commission, including Uzbekistan, will start working as of January 1, 2023.

It is recalled that the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzoyev previously noted the importance of developing and implementing priority areas for the development of science and technology in the country.
