We tested a new virtual reality experience around Cheops

Until October 2 The Institut du Monde Arabe offers an exclusive experience in virtual reality. It takes us to ancient Egypt, to the heart of the Pyramids of Cheops.

Explore the treasures of the Great Pyramid from Paris? Now it is possible. Indeed, until October 2. A particularly successful virtual reality experience has been implemented at the Institut du Monde Arabe.

An event not to be missed knowing that the Pyramid of Cheops is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World that has stood the test of time. This 146-meter-high stone building was built between 2590 and 2565. BC, at the time was the largest building ever built by man. And for anyone who wouldn’t have the opportunity to go to Egypt – and certain spaces are closed to the public – the experience offered is perfect.

Top of the Pyramid, Nile Walk…

Upon arrival at the venue, you will be given a backpack with a computer and a virtual reality headset. In a space of 500 square meters, together with a particularly funny virtual guide, you will have the opportunity to take a 45-minute fabulous wander.

The visit begins along the northern facade before reaching the breakthrough excavated in the 9th century to gain access to the pyramid. Then you can enter the tomb of King Pharaoh Cheops and discover the grand gallery. A corridor of more than 47 meters will lead to the “king’s room”.

It will also be possible to visit the inaccessible queen’s bedroom, climb to the top of the pyramid (virtually), or even discover the skyline of Cairo, in its modern version as in ancient times.

Finally, you will sail the Nile to witness the funeral of King Cheops. Combining state-of-the-art technology and scientific foundations validated by eminent Egyptologists, the experience is particularly successful visually. You can’t get caught trying to catch a bird or touching clear water!

All without danger, because the helmet indicates other users, walls and obstacles. You can also come with your family, because children from the age of 10 can practice.
